Description
The traffic signal at the intersection of Cedar Lane and Harpers Farm Road allows northbound cars on Cedar Lane to turn left across the crosswalk on Harpers Farm Road while pedestrians have a walk signal. This is very dangerous, because both the drivers and the pedestrians simultaneously think they have the right of way.

Thank you for reporting your issue/request to the Howard County Department of Public Works\Traffic Engineering Division.
Pedestrians that push the button to cross Harpers Farm Rd have the legal right of way to make the crossing while left turning vehicles on northbound Cedar Lane are required to yield to the pedestrians within crosswalk. In order to reinforce this statement, signs are posted to caution motorists about the right of way rules. In addition, pedestrian that activate the button also receives a head start to make the crossing before NB Cedar gets green to ensure pedestrians are clearly visible to the turning vehicles.
